Using WhatsApp On Web

How do I use WhatsApp Web?

To provide you with a richer communication experience, WhatsApp is now accessible both on your phone and your computer. WhatsApp Web is a computer based extension of the WhatsApp account on your phone. The messages you send and receive are fully synced between your phone and your computer, and you can see all messages on both devices. Any action you take on the phone will apply to WhatsApp Web and vice versa. At this time, WhatsApp Web is available only for Android, iPhone 8.1+, Windows Phone 8.0 and 8.1, Nokia S60, Nokia S40 EVO, BlackBerry and BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

WhatsApp Web is not another WhatsApp account. When you use WhatsApp on your computer and your phone, you are simply accessing the same account on these two devices.

Minimum requirements to enjoy WhatsApp Web

  • You need to have an active WhatsApp account on your phone.
  • You need to have a stable internet connection on both your phone and your computer.
  • You need to use the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari or Edge as your web browser on your computer.

To get started with WhatsApp Web

1. Visit web.whatsapp.com on your computer.
2. Open WhatsApp on your phone.
  • On Android: in the Chats screen > Menu > WhatsApp Web.
  • On Nokia S60 and Windows Phone: go to Menu > WhatsApp Web.
  • On iPhone: go to Settings > WhatsApp Web.
  • On BlackBerry: go to Chats > Menu > WhatsApp Web.
  • On BlackBerry 10: Swipe down from top of the screen > WhatsApp Web.
  • On Nokia S40: Swipe up from bottom of screen > WhatsApp Web.
  • Scan the QR Code on your computer screen from your phone.
3. Scan the QR Code on your computer screen from your phone.

From your phone, navigate to WhatsApp Web to view your logged in computers or to logout from an active WhatsApp Web session.

Note: To avoid data usage charges on your phone, we recommend that you are always connected to Wi-Fi when using WhatsApp Web.

Using hashtags on Instagram

How do I use hashtags?

You can add hashtags in the caption or comments of your post. If you add hashtags to a post that's set to public, the post will be visible on the corresponding hashtag page.

To tag a photo or video with a hashtag:

1. Take or upload a photo or video
2. Choose to add a filter, then type # followed by text or emoji in the Caption field (ex: #flower)
3. If you want to add a hashtag to a post you've already uploaded, edit the caption or include your hashtag in a comment on your photo

After you tag your post with a hashtag, you'll be able to tap the hashtag to see a page that shows all photos and videos people have uploaded with that hashtag.

Things to keep in mind:

  • When people with private profiles tag posts, they won't appear publicly on hashtag pages.
  • Numbers are allowed in hashtags. However, spaces and special characters, like $ or %, won't work.
  • You can only tag your own posts. You can't tag other people's photos/videos.
  • You can use up to 30 tags on a post. If you include more than 30 tags on a single photo/video, your comment won't post.
  • Older versions of Apple IOS don't support tapping hashtags. Instead, search hashtags by going to  Search & Explore > Search > Tags.

Using hashtags on Facebook

Hashtags turn topics and phrases into clickable links in your posts on your personal Timeline or Page. This helps people find posts about topics they’re interested in. To make a hashtag, write # (the number sign) along with a topic or phrase and add it to your post. For example:

I just saw and think the facebook page name ! #smarttechgroup

When you click a hashtag, you’ll see a feed of posts that include that hashtag. You may also see some related hashtags at the top of the page.

Please keep in mind:

  • A hashtag must be written as a single word, without any spaces
  • You can include numbers in a hashtag, but punctuation and special characters (like $ and %) won't work
  • You can search for a hashtag using the search bar at the top of any page
  • You'll only see posts that were shared with you

Using hashtags on Twitter

"A hashtag—written with a # symbol—is used to index keywords or topics on Twitter. This function was created on Twitter, and allows people to easily follow topics they are interested in."

Using hashtags to categorize Tweets by keyword:

  • People use the hashtag symbol (#) before a relevant keyword or phrase in their Tweet to categorize those Tweets and help them show more easily in Twitter search.
  • Clicking or tapping on a hashtagged word in any message shows you other Tweets that include that hashtag.
  • Hashtags can be included anywhere in a Tweet.
  • Hashtagged words that become very popular are often Trending Topics.

Example of a Tweet with a hashtag:

Tips for using hashtags:
  • You cannot add spaces or punctuation in a hashtag, or it will not work properly.
  • If you Tweet with a hashtag on a public account, anyone who does a search for that hashtag may find your Tweet.
  • We recommend using no more than 2 hashtags per Tweet as best practice, but you may use as many hashtags in a Tweet as you like.
  • Type a hashtagged keyword in the search bar to discover content and accounts based on your interests.

YouTube Go is inspired by India but it will be made available across many markets for Google. The product does touch on many key issues YouTube users face in India starting from poor connectivity to high data cost to language barriers.
